Dr. M S Muthu is one of the leading faces of clinical Pediatric Dentistry in India with over 24 years of experience. He is the founder of Pedo Planet Children Dental Centers, the first exclusive children’s dental centre of South India in 2004.He currently Chairs, the Centre for Early Childhood Caries Research (CECCRe), Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research. He graduated from Tamilnadu Government Dental College and Hospital in 1995 (Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University) and specialised in Pediatric Dentistry, from the Nair Hospital Dental College in 1999 (Mumbai University). He has finished his doctorate in 2010 (4th Pediatric Dentist in the country to have a doctorate) and conferred the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2016. Dr. muthu was an Alumni of the University of Washington, Seattle in the 2007 batch of Summer Institute on "Dental Clinical Research Methods". He is the Joint Secretary of the Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry and the General Secretary of the Indian Society of Dental Traumatology. He is the Chair of Global Task Force on "Cleft Without Caries". He has authored two books for Elsevier publications including the well-known textbook "Pediatric Dentistry - Principles and Practice" widely followed by the dental schools in the subcontinent. He has proposed the following classifications, Modified Talon Cusp Classification (2005), Classification for Dens Evaginatus (2011), and recently the "OXIS classification" of interproximal contacts of primary molars (2018). He is the first Indian to receive the prestigious American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s Paul P Taylor Award for the year 2020. Dr. muthu has also been bestowed with Dr. Lakshmanan - Gold Medal for High Impact factor Publication from Faculty of Dental Sciences - for the year 2015, 2017 and 2018. He is one of the few researchers in India in the field of dentistry to have multiple research grants to the tune of INR 6.24 crores.

Dr. S. Abirami currently works at Pedo Planet Children’s Dental Centre, Porur. She completed her under-graduation (BDS) at SRM dental college, Ramapuram, Chennai and post-graduation (MDS) in Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research Institute, Porur, Chennai. She has 4 years of clinical experience in the field of pediatric and preventive dentistry. She had enormous training and experience in preventive/ restorative dentistry, Full-mouth rehabilitation of Early Childhood Caries (ECC) under Chair side/ General Anesthesia (GA) and Management of dental traumatic injuries in children. She is well trained in delivering infant oral care measures especially for children with cleft lip and/or palate. She is child-friendly, focus on treating existing problem as well as prevention. She delivers individualized anticipatory guidance to parents/caregivers and instills a positive attitude towards good oral health of their children. Overall, she provides holistic care in treating children and adolescents.

Dr K C Vignesh - BDS, MDS (Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry) Our humble consultant currently works as Assistant Professor, Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Faculty of Dental Sciences, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER). He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree (First Class) in Dentistry from Faculty of Dental Sciences, SRIHER and completed his Masters in Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry (First Class with Distinction) from Thai Moogambigai Dental College and Hospital, Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute. Also, he had received the “SILVER MEDAL” for scoring second highest marks in the University Exams. Authored two chapters titled as “Traumatic Injuries to Teeth” and “Dental Emergencies” in the Textbook of Differential Diagnosis in Pediatrics, from Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) – in which chapters are contributed widely by the Paediatricians from All Over India. He had received ‘Chancellors Summer Research Fellowship’ in 2014 and ‘GATE – Young Faculty Research Grant Award’ in 2019 from SRIHER for his research work. He also has publications in PubMed Indexed, Web of Science Journals. He is very active in participating and presenting in National and International Conferences and won many academic awards for his presentations. From National Institute of Epidemiology (Indian Council of Medical Research), he had completed online course on ‘Health Research Fundamentals’ with Sliver Medal. He had completed many Online courses from World Health Organization (WHO), Coursera from University of London, John Hopkins University, University of California, University of Edinburgh etc. He has a work experience of 7 years in the field of Clinical Dentistry. Also, he had completed Hands – On training course in “Comprehensive Endodontics” at Mohan’s Micro – Dentistry (Micro Endodontic Academy). Dr. Ankita Saikia is a passionate pediatric dentist and an enthusiastic learner. She has completed her masters in Pediatric Dentistry from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research. With 9 years of clinical experience, she is one of our senior consultants. She has been highly instrumental in facilitating highest quality patient care in Pedo Planet Children Dental Centers. She is well trained in Nitrous Oxide Sedation (Laughing gas), Early Childhood Caries, Early Orthodontics, Aesthetic Dentistry, Preventive Dentistry, Children with cleft, Children with Special Health Care Needs and other routine dental procedures. She had a brief stint as Assistant Professor in Government Dental College, Guwahati for a period of 20 months. She has also been one of the key resource person with a global team of researchers in developing clinical practice guidelines for children with Cleft Lip and Palate. This project was funded by Smile Train and FDI ( Federation Dentaire International). She is one of the four recipient ( first Indian Team ever) of the recently awarded Paul P. Taylor award by American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry 2020 for summarising research on risk factors of Early Childhood Caries. She is the first Pediatric Dentist in the country to receive a BIRAC grant to develop indigenously made infant wipes and infant table. Dr.Vidhyalakshmi is a Pediatric Dentist with 6 years of experience as a clinician.She completed her undergraduation from Ragas Dental College,Chennai and post graduation from Rajah Muthiah Dental College&Hospital,Chidambaram. After her post graduation she pursued her Fellowship in Advanced Pediatric Dentistry under the guidance of Dr.M S Muthu M.D.S.,PhD,MFDSRCPS and has been associated with Pedo planet as Consultant Pediatric Dentist. She has undergone training for practicing conscious sedation in Pediatric Denistry and is inclined towards expanding her clinical skills. She specializes in Pediatric Endodontics and management of Early Childhood Caries.

Dr Aruna graduated from the erstwhile Government Dental college and Hospital, Hyderabad in the year 1995 and went on to pursue her masters in Pediatric Dentistry from the same Institution. After completing her Masters in 1999, she was actively involved in academics. She adorned various positions in the academic hierarchy and also headed the department of Pediatric Dentistry in various Dental colleges (in Chennai, Tamilnadu) where she was not only teaching the finer nuances of Pediatric Dentistry (for undergraduate and postgraduate students in Dentistry) but was also honing the clinical skills of budding dental surgeons. Dr Aruna is well versed with the various dental / oral conditions affecting children and in managing and treating these conditions. She has also pursued private dental practice since 2000 till date in the specialty of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry. She has publications in national and international journals of repute to her credit. Dr Janani J, currently works at Pedoplanet children’s dental centre, Annanagar, Chennai. She has completed her undergraduation from SRM dental college, chennai and post-graduation from Krishnadevaraya college of dental sciences, Bangalore. She has an experience of 4 years overall in pediatric and preventive dentistry. She can speak Tamil, English, Kannada and Hindi fluently. Her field of interest is behaviour management and interceptive orthodontics. Dr. Sneha Patil is an avid learner. She has accrued almost 8 years of work experience as a Paediatric Dentist. Shereceived her graduation degree (BDS) at the Sinhgad Dental College & Hospital, Pune in 2011. She continued her studies and completed her pediatric dentistry training at Dr. D.Y Patil Dental College, Pune. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research. She has been an Assistant Professor for 22 months at Dr. D.Y. Patil Dental College & Hospital, Pune. Her education and experiences have prepared her to treat children in all facets of dentistry- provide oral health care for children from infancy through adolescence, manage children with special health care needs under general anesthesia, parent education, and guidance.

Dr. Uma Nagarajan handles the New Delhi Branch ofPedoPlanet Children’s Dental Center at Kalkaji. She obtained her BDS Degree from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai in 2013 and completed her Post- Graduation in Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry from SGT University, Gurugram in 2017.She has vast experienceinPediatric Dentistry. She is well trained in managing children of all age groups and keeps them engaged and takes interest in their stories and imaginations. She also specializes in the use of Nitrous oxide- oxygen inhalational sedation, commonly known as “Laughing Gas”,which is especially beneficial for pre-cooperative, anxious and fearful children. Dr Uma has a keen interest in prevention of Early Childhood Caries (Tooth Decay in Toddlers) by using Preventive Methods such as Pit and Fissure Sealants and Fluoride Therapy and Regular dental follow up visits.She ensures that the parents are made aware about how to take care of their children’s teeth during their visits. He is working as a senior Consultant in Craniomaxillofacial Surgery at Kanchi Kamakoti Childs Trust Hospital and Pedo Planet children’s dental center. He had special interest and training in Paediatric Craniofacial Surgery,Distraction Osteogenesis,Orthognathic Surgery,Cleft Lip/ Palate Surgery and also surgery for other birth and acquired facial defects in children.

He has vast experience with tongue tie, lip tie and tethered oral tissues functional assessment and timely management. He is a Best Outgoing Student (MDS) with a university rank. He has completed standard proficiency in lasers at IALD, LEI & UCSF and advanced proficiency by American Diplomat (DABLS), WCLI & MANIPAL UNIV. He has been awarded the Fellowship Award (ISDR), PEDO MASTER EXCELLENCE AWARD and Fellow ICD. Dr. Kumar is one of the first to initiate Laser Assisted Pediatric Dentistry (LAP-D) ®️ and Tongue Tie Release National Workshop ISPPD Conference and Conventions. He has traveled the world to share knowledge and experience about the safe use of lasers in newborns and children , and has trained many dental and health care professionals in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Dubai and Myanmar.
